How do I create a space?
You can create a space in Velory to represent a physical location — a meeting room, office, server room, storage area, or common area. Once created, you can assign hardware and software to the space so assets stay with the location.
Before you begin
You need Admin access to create spaces. Spaces is available on Business and Enterprise plans.
Create a new space
- Go to Assets → Spaces.
- Click Add Space in the top right.
- Fill in the space details (see the table below).
- Click Create Space.
The space appears in the Spaces list immediately. You can then open it to assign assets, add notes, or upload an image.

Good to know
When should I use a space vs. assigning to an employee?
Use a space when a device belongs to a location rather than a person — for example, a monitor in a meeting room, a printer in the office, or a server in the data centre. Use employee assignment when the device is personal to one person.
Can I assign a device to both an employee and a space?
Yes. A device can be assigned to an employee and a space at the same time. This is useful when a person is the primary user of a device that physically stays in a specific location.
What is the Space Manager for?
The space manager is the employee responsible for the space and its assets. It is an informational field — it does not affect permissions. Use it to track who to contact about equipment in that location.
