How do I assign hardware to a space?
You can assign hardware to a space so that devices like monitors, printers, and servers stay linked to a physical location rather than an individual employee. This makes it easy to track what equipment is in each room or office.

Before you begin
You need Admin or Manager access to assign hardware. The space must already exist and be active.
Assign a device to a space
- Go to Assets → Hardware.
- Click on a device to open its detail page.
- In the Details card, open the Assigned to field.
- Search for and select the space you want to assign the device to.
The space picker shows active spaces with their type and location to help you find the right one.
Assign from the hardware list
You can also use bulk assignment from the hardware list:
- Select devices using the checkboxes in the table.
- Choose Assign to from the bulk action bar.
- Select a space as the assignment target.
View what is assigned to a space
- Go to Assets → Spaces.
- Click on a space to open its detail page.
- Go to the Hardware tab.
You will see a table of all devices currently assigned to this space, with columns for name, manufacturer, model, and lifecycle stage.
Unassign a device from a space
- Open the device's detail page from Assets → Hardware.
- Clear the space assignment field.
The device becomes unassigned from the space but remains in your hardware list.

Can a device be assigned to both an employee and a space?
Yes. Employee assignment and space assignment are independent. A laptop can be assigned to an employee (who uses it) and to a space (where it is located) at the same time.
What happens to assignments when a space is deleted?
Devices assigned to a deleted space become unassigned from that space. They are not deleted — they stay in your hardware list and can be reassigned.
Why can I not find a space in the picker?
Only active spaces appear in the assignment picker. If the space you are looking for is set to inactive, an admin needs to reactivate it on the space's detail page before it can be selected.
Does assigning to a space change the device state?
Assigning a device to a space sets the device state to In Use, the same as assigning to an employee. Unassigning from a space (with no employee assignment) sets the state to Available for use.
