How do I replace a device that's due for renewal?
Company devices are replaced on a schedule — when a lease ends, or when a device reaches the end of its replacement cycle. When yours is due, Velory lets you return it and request a replacement in one go.
Start a renewal
When a device is due, your Overview shows "Time to renew your {device}" with Start renewal. The device's details show Ready to replace with the same button.
Before it is due, the details show the date: "Eligible for replacement on {date}".
Renew it
- Select Start renewal.
- The first step shows the device, the renewal type and the date. Under What do you want to do?, pick Return.
- Select Confirm — Return.
- Velory suggests a replacement like the one you have. Keep it, or swap it for another option.
- Check the review, then confirm.
The page reads "All set — replacement requested". The replacement goes for approval like any request. Follow it under Ongoing tickets on your Overview.
Nothing is saved until you confirm. Leave before then, and the device stays as it was.
Hand in the old device
Once you have confirmed, the old device is on its way back. Open the request from Ongoing tickets on your Overview: under Returning, Before hand-back lists what to do first — back up your files, sign out of your accounts, and hand in the device.
Velory also notifies you about each of these. See What does Velory need from me?.
Good to know
Can I buy my old device?
No. Buy out shows as coming soon and cannot be picked.
What if I do nothing?
Nothing happens on its own. You keep using the device, and IT decides what to do when the renewal date passes.
The device isn't due, but it is broken
That is a repair, not a renewal. See How do I report a problem with my device?.
